Trinity School - Carlisle

The recent floods in Cumbria left Trinity School in Carlisle with a muddy
swimming pool where the gym used to be and they could have been forgiven for
giving up gymnastics until the insurance had put everything back together.
But the girls and their coaches are made of stronger stuff and with
fantastic help from Carlisle Gymnastics Club who allowed the school to use
their facilities, free of charge, and Milano helping them to replace their
ruined leotards the team bounced back to win 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the North
of England competition at the weekend.

"It was a tough decision to make - did we enter the Milano team gym
competition given our current situation? Our sports hall and gym were
flooded and all of our gym equipment including the team leotards were
ruined. Carlisle gym club came to the rescue giving us a space to practice
free of charge during the holidays which allowed us to make a start on the
routines and we made the decision to enter 3 teams - the girls were keen and
we wanted some normality in the chaos. Practices have been held at the
university of Cumbria on weekends and also in the part of school which
escaped the flood but without any gym mats, it was a challenge! The
competition was fantastic and the result made it worth all the extra hassle!"

Congratulations to Trinity School for the courage and enthusiasm to keep
going through adversity and a big thank you to Carlisle Gymnastics Club for their help and generosity.
