Two members of the Milano Road Crew travelled to the Central Zonal Round of the British Schools Gymnastics Association Trampolining Competition in Cardiff. Despite having to get up at 3.45am to catch the coach from Hertfordshire with their team mates, everyone was in good spirits and the bus was loaded with pillows, duvets, hot chocolate and 16 very sleepy girls. 3 hours later the teams arrived at the Sports Wales National Centre to begin their warm up. With four teams competing across both novice and intermediate levels in both age categories as well as both team and individual competitions it was a very busy day.
First job – hair ! Hairspray, bun nets and why are there never enough pins ? Matching shorts – check ! Matching leotards check ! Clean white socks ! Has any one seen the bag of scrunchies ??????
First up were the U14 Intermediate team who moved up from the U11 Novice last year. Our team of tiny gymnasts looked very small against some much older ( and taller ) girls but jumped very well to finish in 6th place! Two more years in this age group so plenty of time to improve! Next up U14 Novices – a brilliant set of scores and an individual qualifier for nationals. It’s a gold medal for Road Crew Member Tori and her team. Then it was the turn of the U19 team – a fantastic performance sees the girls win gold in the Novice section with another individual qualifier, and bronze medal for the U19 Intermediates. Wigan here we come. See you there Milano – hope the T-Shirts are ready!
